NEWS...

5/10/10 - A long time without writing...
I appologize for not reporting here more frequently, this has been a pretty busy year. We just finished our U13 season, and there is only one more week of games for U11 and U15. A quick sorry to the U13 team for the last week cancelation, I am very disappointed with the Redding team right now. I agreed to cancel a number of games but told them I wasn't interested in eliminating all of them. I feel they cheated our young boys and girls out of playing time... water under the bridge.

To our U11 team, I want to tell you and your parents that I am amazed at your progress this year. You held your own against teams that were much older, had more players and were more seasoned than yourselves... be proud of yourselves, I am proud of you.

To our U13 team... wow!!! Talk about an amazing group of kids. With a total of 14 kids (most other teams had between 16 and 25) and only 3 returning players you guys proved your strength. You played hard and stood shoulder to shoulder with the best of them. Your coaches are proud of you.

To our U15 team, I spent more time with you so I am closest to you. I am so proud of each of you. All of our returning players showed so much growth, and all of our new players picked up the game quickly. Again, our players saw the importance of having a larger roster but they all left everything they had on the field each game. As we wrap up this season, I look forward to our JV experience next year. I hope to see all of you out there next year, you will be a force to watch.

I also wanted to take a moment to wear my coach hat and dad hat at the same time. I never boast on here about how well he does, because he is the coaches kid. I started our program because my son Logan fell in love with the sport the way I did. We could have easily just gone and played in Redding, but we wanted to share the experience with others in Red Bluff. I want to appologize to Logan though, it isn't easy being the son of the coach as I have been harder on him... I put up with less of his monkey business, less of his lip, and leaned on him harder than the others. This kid gives the sport everything... I was speaking to a coach from another team recently about Logan, and they made an observation... he said "I love watching him play, you can tell he loves the sport... he plays with everything he has and he has fun doing it... it is kids like him that make sport fun..." I want to acknowledge how much Logan has grown, he has caught a lot of flack from parents and even his own teammates about how he drives and doesn't pass enough. This year has seen a change with all of that, Logan has grown as a player... in our last 2 games, Logan passed and gave his teammates the opportunity to succeed... he played unselfish lacrosse... that is untill it became nesecary to get points on the board... then he did what he does best, he charged the lines and kept us in the games. We have several kids that play with their whole heart, I only wish I could figure out why they do and then inspire that in the others. I have to admit, I was a little miffed when one of Logan's friends and teammates said "just let him drive, he will stop when he gets hurt" this came from a strong player that never plays with his whole heart... and though it was a crappy thing for him to say, I looked at him and said I wished he would put that much effort in. So... as a coach, I wish I had more like Logan and I am as proud of him as the others... as his Dad, I cannot explain how proud I am of how much he has grown... he is one of the youngest players on our team but plays with a Man's heart.

3/14/2010 - U11 games today...
Our littlest guys met for 2 games today, as for most of our schedule we played Redding and Chico today. What a great bunch of kids. Our first contest of the day was another opportunity to learn as Redding won 9 to 0... Those Redding guys play great bal.

After Chico met with Redding for the second game of the day, they played our kids. Final score of the game was 7 to 3 marking our U11 teams first "V" on the record books. Great game guys, you are coming along so fast... I really enjoy working with you and watching your progress... you will be an unstopable force in no time at all. - Corey

3/13/2010 - Game results from today...
Today was an amazing day. We hosted 4 games in Red Bluff, what a long but fun day. Our boys and girls played amazingly well.

U15 met with Chico for the first time this year and it was a shoot out. In the final seconds of the game, our boys moved the ball from the far endline in a passing fast break from Zach, to Curtis, to Josh Panza resulting in a tieing goal that would take the players into sudden victory (the politically correct way of renaming "sudden death") overtime. Both teams went scoreless through the first OT. In the end, Chico scored the final goal 6.5 minutes into the second overtime. The score sheet shows final game stats as Logan with 5 points, Josh Panza with 2 points and Curtis Twitchell with 1. Our Goalie Dillan Dorman (AKA the guy doing the job that I wouldn't/couldn't) recorded 6 saves. That was an excitng game to say the least. Chico has a strong defensive strategy, which is why we adopted aspects of it into the Rhino playblook last year. Our players rock, I only hope they had as much fun playing as I did coaching and watching them play. It is also notable that I am far less horse today than last game. Again, our whole team did an amazing job... families were excited and pacing, it was a real nail biter! To the players you should be proud of yourselves and each other.

Then there was the U13 games... in our last episode, the U13 Rhinos played Redding and lost at home 5 goals to 7. Today the tides turned but it was another close one. With goals scored by Cameron Ortega, Garrison Koeberer, and Alexis Hethcoat... yes all of the Hethcoats like to shake the net! Final score Red Bluff 4, Redding 2. First "V" of the year! Redding then played and won a game against the Eagles of Sierra Foothills winning 5 to 3. Our final contest of the day was against the Eagles, which ended in a score of Red Bluff 13 SF Eagles 3. This physical game was well fought by both teams. Final stats per the score sheet shows John House with 2 points, Garrison Koeberer with1, Cole Koeberer with 2, Cameron Ortega with 2, and Dallas(What -a-Beast)Hethcoat with 6.

Tomorrow Red Bluff hosts Chico and Redding's U11 teams. I guess you could say that Lacrosse has landed in Red Bluff. Good job today everybody... I am proud of all of you. You are a great bunch of kids and I am glad you are having fun.

3/1/2010 - Off and Running...
I didn't realize how long it has been since I posted on here... I must be a slacker... or busy as heck or something...

Our young men and women met in their first contests of the season yesterday.

Starting with U11 at 10am against the Redding Red Hawks. What a fight! Despite an excellent effort by our kids Redding took the game by several points, our only goal coming from Brendan Ortega. Our young men learned a lot about field positions and the importance of passing, ground balls and cradling. They have come so far in such a short period of time, and in coming games will be a serious force to be recond with. I was seriously suprised at the performance of several of the boys as it was their first time on a marked field let alone a lacrosse game.

U13 was a much closer game. With only 3 players returning from last year, and the rest brand spanking new to the sport all I can say is "what an incredible group of athletes". Those that were around last year will remember that Dallas Hethcoat was our goalie last year, this year he scored all 5 goals in our first game... he is growing so fast and his speed amazes me. It was impressive to see how well new players were handling the ball as well as passing. Austin did a great job of keeping in front of the ball as goalie, and they all left it out on the field. We will have several more chances to play against Redding in the future, and I know the next time we meet they will be left dazed and confused at the fury that is our U13 Rhinos. Final score of the game was 5 to 7. You should all be proud of yourselves, I know I am proud of you all.

Now for the U15 team, I was there for the whole thing and loud as all get out... the kids learned just how loud I can be now. Talk about a close game, this was a back and fourth match that ended in a loss for Red Bluff 11 to 12. talk about close... Dillan Dorman did an amazing job of driving the Defense from the goalie position, not to mention stoping for more shots than got through. We moved some players around and restructured our defense, and I think we are getting dialed in. All of our defense moved extremely well, winning most of the ground ball attempts against Gold Hills. This was our first contest where we got to be as physical as we could be, and they did an excellent job. Attack and midfield also played their butts off, with precission passes and excellent execution of plays. No one player kept the game as close as it was from beginning to end. We had 6 players that went down on the books with goals, with hat tricks for both Curtis and Cory Twitchell, and Logan LeVier. All of our young U15 women and men left everything on the field, with the score tied until the last 20 seconds of the game. It was a nail biter to say the least. I only hope that I didn't freak anyone out with my loud behavior, I get into the game and can be quite animated in a (I hope) positive way.

If you missed these games you really missed out. Try and catch us next time around.

I am so proud of our kids, this was the best birthday present I could have asked for... To the kids, thank you for all of your effort, you really have no idea how proud I am of each and everyone of you. - Corey

12/19/2009 - Update of our status....
I know it has been too long since I reported here... This is usually my slower time for work, allowing me to spend more time on our lacrosse program. More later.

10/28/2009 - Off and running early...
I know I failed to post anything about the results of our clinic. Sorry. Been busy so I will have more time when we start our season... And it looks like it is already here.

First to address the success of the clinic... Our past clinics were a huge success with upwards of 25 kids attending, but that is nothing like the turn out we had on 10/11/09. We had more than 45 kids in attendance and with the exception of a select few, they all wanted more (I told everyone there was a lot of running!) and I have received a large number of requests to hold more clinics, or start practices.

That brings us to the practices... We will be holding unofficial practices (AKA Pickup practices) starting this Sunday (11/1/09) at the Red Bluff High School Soccer Park. There is no cost to participate, and we will be excepting registration at the practices. Our goal is to hold practices at 2pm every Sunday providing the weather is good (Not raining, snowing, or generally miserable). These practices will follow our basic practices structure (stretching, conditioning, skills drills, games and scrimmages) and will be for all age groups. I am hoping to get coaches and all levels of players up to speed early this year, and what better way than to experience lacrosse practice as a player. I (coach Corey) will be participating as a player as well, going through the drills and sprints and the whole 110 yards! What better way to get in and stay in good condition! This invitation is extended to everyone in the Red Bluff area, and those interested in participating from Chico and Redding as well.

Those that have pads/equipment should bring all of their gear to practices. Those that do not have equipment we will try to take care of you on a first come first served basis, we have some extra protective equipment and sticks to lend for the practices but I encourage all that plan on playing this year to purchase their own ASAP. If you need help in finding equipment let me know, I have some pretty good sources.

I am very excited about our upcoming year, we anticipate a JV team, U15 team, U13 team and at least one U11 instructional league team. We have several interested and registered for each team, but as in the past we still need more!!! Our goal for each U11 team is to have at least 12-15 per team (it looks like we have enough to do one of these already), and our goal for the other teams is 15-20 per team. Currently our approximate numbers look like we have about 10 JV players interested, 10 U15 players, and 8 U13 players.

REGISTER NOW!!! We are looking to get as many registered immediately as possible, NCJLA fees ($450 per team) are due no later than 11/30/2009. We hope to see you there!!!

9/10/2009 - Already looking towards next year...
With the new school year started we are already starting to gear up for the next season. Current plans include a Lacrosse clinic in Red Bluff on 10/11/2009, Officials Training 17&18 October which includes a scrimmage with our boys, Chico and Redding.

Let this be known now, we will not combine teams like we did last year. It is important that we get players playing at the appropriate levels and if this means not having a team for a specific age group then that is how we will roll. So far I am planning on a Junior Varsity team, U15, U13 and U11. We will be attempting to raise money to get team protective equpment for the younger players, as this will be an instructional team. We will be posting registration info for this team soon because it will be different than the other teams.

Last year the instructional league started in NCJLA and few organizations fielded teams. This year I have heard that Chico is trying to put together a team, Redding is planning on one too, so as there will probably be fewer games for our younger team there will be less travel as well.

More soon!!!

8/25/2009 - Check out Lacrosse Magazine...
We just got our copy of US Lacrosse's mothly publication (Lacrosse Magazine) and on page 60 is Clarence (Bubba) McArthur's write up. Thats right a national publication has recognized one of our players as he was the recipient of a US Lacrosse camp scholarship. This wasn't a small block, but a full page. We are now on the Lacrosse map!

6/30/2009 - Thank you again to Ross Valley Lacrosse Camp!!
As mentioned on the main page of this website, we just got back from Lacrosse Camp in the Bay Area. As many of you involved in our program are aware, last year Logan was awarded the scholarship to the Nike/Talon run Ross Valley Lacrosse camp. This year Clarence was awarded the scholarship, so he, Logan, Zach D., Dane and Dallas all attended the camp. Same as last year, I allowed to coach/assist at the camp but another change was Dino Landingham (one of my assistant coaches) also attended and helped. This is a great learning opportunity for the coaches that attend, as we are immersed in lacrosse and absorb coaching skills from some of the best coaches in the world(i.e. amoung other LAX stuff, Coach Dino coaches an A team in Larkspur, Coach Blake is taking an allstar U15 team to Baltimore for a tournament, Coach Grose took a High School Team from the Bay to the championships in Baltimore last month and won the whole freaking thing). You couldn't buy a better education in the sport.

So to recap, Dino and myself took 5 boys to the Bay Area for 5 days. We stayed in Dino's 5th wheel at the Navato RV park... I highly recommend the place. What a week! First day, Logan rolled his ankle and we though he might be through for the week but he recovered and made the most of the remaining days. Day 2 the camp was honored by a visit from one of the fastest professional players of Lacrosse playing today, Matt Danowski of the Long Island Lizards and Colorado Mamoths. Very exciting! The boys got to meet Matt and get his autograph, we did have pics with Matt and the camping Rhinos and they will be posted here soon.

Fast forward to the last day, our very own Zach D. was awarded the Talon Award for being an all around great camper. Zach won a Talon Defense pole with his name and number engraved in it. Congrats Zach... you deserve it!

We came home on Friday, to the news that Clarence was to be interviewed for the August US Lacrosse magazine. (Click Here to see the Pics we submitted to the mag). How can you top an experience like the boys (and us coaches) had... you can't, you just can't.

Again, I want to thank Dino for all of his help last week, I never could have done it alone. And to all 5 boys, you were a pleasure to hang around with, and I am proud of how much you have learned and grown in the last week. I look forward to hanging with you soon!!!

5/17/2009 - End of year...
I will add more later, but I wanted to thank all of the kids that participated yesterday in the Chico scrimage. You played very well, I am proud of all of you. I also wanted to clear something up, I appreciate that Bill was doing an excellent job of coaching the game but my goal for this game was to have 3 of our senior players act as coaches. I wanted them to understand what they should be looking for on the field from a different perspective. I wanted them to see the game through different eyes for a couple of different reasons. I will cover these later. Thanks again for your help Bill, I am lucky to have you working with us.

4/19/2009 - post Easter game...
Well, I probably should have held more practices.... With only 14 of our 23 players attending this weeks game we held our own, but in the end we lost. Based on the feed back of parents, players and the coaches it had a lot to do with the officiating of the game. As a new official myself I know it is a hard job, but this was a challenging game as a coach. With so many illegal cross checks and slashes out there, we should have been man up the whole game... but sadly, this was not the case. To make matters worse, I learned that if you correct a referee durring a game you better not piss him off. After correcting him, I was threatened to be removed from the game for stepping on the field, calls were made against our team that were completely unfair, calls were not made when they should have been and subsiquently our players were little bruised up as a result. I will not be reporting the referee to the league for a couple of reasons. First, this will not change the outcome of the game at all. El Dorado Hills played hard and they deserve the victory. Second, I at no time want to come off as one of those whinny coaches screaming we were cheated, this is not the rep I want our team to have.

On to the good stuff... The final score of the game was 6-3, Logan scored 3 with assistance from Curtis. They had an excellent and strong defense. All of our players did a great job, completing almost all of our passes, moving with a purpose, and playing aggessively. Even our younger players stepped up, Dillan challenged every defender he came accross, and Casey cutting through them like he has been doing this for far longer than he actually had. I am so proud of these kids, they played their hearts out and with only 1 practice in two weeks. Who could ask for anything more. We will be better prepared for our next weekend, with 2 games on Saturday and one on Sunday.

I would like to thank everyone that played this weekend, I really appreciate your dedication and comittment.

4/5/09 - missed a few weeks of posts but more to report...
Yesterday we played 2 games in Elk Grove, first against Elk Grove second was Folsom Cordova. I am sorry to report we lost both games, but it only hurts because we were so close in both games. It is important to relay that Elk Grove has only one loss this year, and their scores were very high... and those they beat were not close in score either. It would be fair to say they are a very strong team. We lost to them by 1 point, 6 to 7. Our kids played very hard and as a team. Our biggest area of opportunity was ground balls, this is because we have not played on a field as rough as this since last year. That is, we practiced on a field in worse shape than Elk Grove last year so when we faced off on fields like this we were better prepared. Notable players include Garrison - this kid never fails to impress me, Garrison played with a fire I have never seen him bring. Liam - this little man plays with more heart than you would think he was capable of carrying. Melanie - executed passes and catches with passion, and drove through the defense like a pro. Dillon - demonstrated what practicing cradling will get you, this young man shows improvement every time he takes the field. Lets not forget our defense, due to other commitments we fielded our team on Saturday with only three defensemen... Dakota, Dane and Zach. With no breaks in two back to back games, these young men played great! That is to say, they played hard and clean. I am very proud of the three of them. Quintan again made the list of scorers this weekend, with 2 goals in the first half of the first game. Cory brought home our second goal of the first game as well.

I know I say I am proud or our kids a lot... but I rarely say how proud of Logan I am. This is because I am the coach and I do not want to sound prejudiced. I do want to take this moment to recognize Logan. He did the unthinkable in the 3rd quarter down 3 to 7 Logan won his face offs, drove through a strong defense and scored unassisted... He did this three times in a row within 30 seconds. This leveled the playing field and rallyed his teammates. As a coach, you always want to encourage your players to pass and use good tactics. This is true with me as well, but I am also trying get my stronger players to drive to the goal and take smart chances. Lacrosse is an aggressive sport, more so than others. I am so proud of my son and how well he is doing... Thank you Logan.

The second game of the day found us a little more worn than we had hoped, with only 15 minutes between games we took the field and Folsom scored immediately. They had a strong defense that kept us at bay for most of the game, which ended with a final score of Red Bluff 2 - Folsom Cordova 4. Both goals of this game were scored by Logan.

3/10/2009 - Games 2 and 3 in the books...
This past Saturday we played 2 games in Chico, first against Granite Bay followed immediately by Chico. Both teams were a pleasure to play. We lost both games by pretty narrow margins, and our kids played great! We know what we need to work on to improve as a team and we had a blast.
I do know we had some younger players that were dissappointed, I played them very little in the game against Chico. I wanted to take this time to reinforce what I told players and parents both when we combined the U13 and U15 teams and before the game... "Against teams that have larger and older players, the younger players can expect to play much less and maybe not at all. This is for the player's safety". For example, the Chico team's smallest player was only smaller than 3 of our players. Chico is an aggressive and very physical team. This is the nature of the sport, and as such some of our larger players met the ground hard many times. I will not put younger players in harms way, I appologize to anyone that doesn't agree with this and if players felt left out but I stand by my decission. Safety First!
Now, I want it to also be known how proud I am of our players. In the first game both of the brothers Twitchell had 2 goals each and LeVier had 1 with a final score of 5 to 6. This was not for a lack of trying though, Granite Bay had a Goalie that was super fast! In the Chico game LeVier, Skaggs and McArthur had 1 goal each with a final score of 3 to 7. Our players performed better than I could have asked for with excellent communication and great passing. We all should be proud of the job they did.

3/1/2009 - First Game Down...
For those families, friends, and fans that attended our first game/homegame yesterday, thank you. We hope you enjoyed yourselves. I know I did. With our first game down, we have 1 'V' in the score book... the game was well played with a final score of 12-9 in Red Bluff's favor. As a coach, I can only say I am very proud of each and every one of my players. Most had never been to a lacrosse game let a lone played in one. When your players give 110% of themselves and actually learn from the game that is a true success. Passes and catches were very well executed. We dominated the ground balls. I never would have expected that these kids to perform to the level they did for a first game. Proud is not a strong enough word for how I feel. I could not have asked for a better birthday present. - Corey

2/23/2009 - Another Casualty of the Economy...
Despite our best efforts to get enough players, we have been forced to combine our U13 and U15 teams. We met with parents and discussed our program and the dilema of enrollement. This was an extremely stressful situation, until we met with our players this weekend. I am so impressed with the little athletes we have playing for our team, and I have no doubt that we will more than hold our own against the teams we will face this year. In speaking with the teams we had to cancel games with I found that we were not the only ones in this situation, many of the teams are still trying to sign up players and will have very lean numbers this year. Everyone I have spoke to has been very understanding and wish us a very good season. What a great group of people you find in the Lacrosse community.

2/13/2009 - practice update...
We made it through week 2 of practice and I am sincere when I say, that the new players that are making practices are improving every time I look at them. We cover a lot in a short period of time, and I am impressed with the levels of improvement I have seen across the board. This is no small feet for the kids, with temperatures on around 30 degrees in the evening the players are showing up and applying themselves like champs. With no end to the rain in site, we will be meeting at Berrendos Middle School in the gym next week(2/17-2/19). Players are asked to wear Basket Ball court friendly shoes, and to bring all of their protective equipment. I have ordered special low/no bounce balls for use in the gym. We will be covering the rules of lacrosse, positions and what to expect on game day. Hope to see you all there.

2/10/2009 - it was freakin' freezin' out tonight....
I don't blame those of you that skipped practice tonight, it was cold and rainy. I am sorry that I cannot cancel practices... we have so much to cover and work on before we start playing games in less than 3 weeks, and if we wait until the weather is agreeable we may not have the chance to practice. Also, we have had more players come out and check out what we are doing, and if we don't hold practice they cannot check it out!!! From this day on, if it is raining (not snowing or hailing) we will only meet for 1 hour (6pm-7pm). I don't want anyone to get sick or hurt, but we have a lot to cover in a very short period of time. I will be looking into where we can meet that will be warmer and dryer for the immediate future. Please call Corey if you have questions (530-736-2992)

2/9/2009 - Week 2 about to start, but not without casualties
In the last week we lost our JV team due to too few players. I completely support Bill and the kids on this, but it is still a bitter pill to swallow. Lacrosse is a high speed sport, and players get tired. That said we would have needed about 10 more players to field a team successfully.

If you signed up for our JV team and paid registration, please contact me via our contact page(CLICK HERE). There is still an opportunity to play for those interested, Redding has space available on their teams. For those players interested in playing on the Redding team, there will be carpools down to their practices and the registration fees you paid will move up to Redding so there will be no additional fees. For those that are not going to play for Redding, we will be working on refunds but they will not be available immediately. Our organization has already paid a number of fees and will be awaiting refunds. Again, contact us for more info.

2/5/2009 - Two practices down
Tuesday we held our first practice of the season, and as always the kids had a blast. Our roster still not as full as we need it to be. We are working hard to attract new players and sponsors. Invite your friends and classmates out to see what Lacrosse is about!

New players get a 15% discount at Play it Again Sports in Redding! They have a really good selection of protective pads, helmets, sticks and more.

11/30/2008 - Teams are registered!
It is no small feat, we registered all 3 teams on time with NCJLAX! This was to the tune of $1350.00. Next we need to finish up registration within the teams. We are still light on all three levels, we have approximately 10 kids on the U13, 10 on the U15, and it sounds like we have about 15 so far on the JV.

11/13/2008 - Equipment pricing update...
In preparation for tonight's meeting with JV players and parents I contacted my usual vendors of equipment. Play it Again Sports has suspended its team discount for the time being, at this time prices are as advertised in the store.

I also contacted my contact person at Masscloseouts.com regarding helmet pricing and availability. They have a few different types of helmets, and they are really excellent priced. What I am recommending is the Warrior PRO Z, they have a model with a steel mask ($49) and a Titanium mask ($52) and is supposed to be lighter. If we can get a large enough order ($1000 or more) we pay no shipping at all. Shipping per helmet is $15, this is a heck of a savings. In addition to helmets, they carry some gloves and other protective equipment.

As players are already finding out, practices are more fun and safer with equipment.

Contact us for a copy of the spreadsheet of MassCloseouts inventory and pricing, or to inquire about placing an order.

11/5/2008 - What's up with the crutches
Ok, this is just to let everyone know what happened to me (Corey). I broke my foot week before last, yes it was playing lacrosse, but the injury was a fluke. I turned to my right to get a ball that went out of bounds and the 5th metatarsal of my right foot snapped like a twig... gotta love the sound! No one made contact with me, no one was within 10 feet of me, it was a fluke. I had surgery on my foot yesterday, they screwed the bones back together. Needless to say this is a major bummer and an inconvenience to say the the least. The date was never advertised but I am moving the next clinic to the beginning of December so I can participate more.

Please note that Redding Lacrosse is having a clinic on November 16, 2008. They will have some special guests at this one, and as always it will be a BLAST!!!!

10/29/2008 - A note on equipment - See update above
Lacrosse is becoming a very popular sport, and with that popularity manufactures are making a larger variety of protective equipment. But just like most things in life, you usually get what you pay for. Starter equipment, or "Entry Level" equipment is designed to provide minimal protection while learning the sport. Features that can contribute to higher prices include moisture protection, better craftsmanship, sturdier materials and overall design as it pertains to performance.

A lot of testing goes into making sticks throw faster and more accurately. There are several types of shafts as well. Different materials are used to make them including aluminum, titanium, wood, and fiberglass. This is for durability, weight, and feel. Of course this directly impacts price as well. For players looking for good and inexpensive starter sticks two suggestions (based on sticks our players used in our first year) are the STX AV8 and the GAIT Icon. These sticks have proved to be durable and throw nice. As for lacrosse stick pockets (this question came up several times this week), there are several different styles of pockets. For starting players, the soft mesh pockets that come on the starter sticks is a good way to begin. They don't throw as fast, but they make learning to cradle the ball a little easier. We plan on holding a free "class/gathering" on stick stringing soon. More on that later.

Gloves, arm guards and shoulder pads come in a variety of price points as well. Moisture protection is definitely something to keep in mind, these can get funky fast! The other main features will be articulation and how well they keep the bruises out. Look for something that is comfortable and allows for easier movement, if you can't move you can't throw or catch and if it is uncomfortable players will be likely to wear them improperly or not at all.

Helmets - it is critical that a player is wearing protective headwear that fits properly! If a helmet is too loose or too tight it doesn't properly protect. There are only a few vendors of Lacrosse helmets, last year we purchased the Cascade CH2 for our players and found them to be comfortable and protected well (no head injuries).

Mouth pieces are required equipment for all practices and games. Mouth pieces cannot be clear(transparent).

Cleats should be worn to all practices and games. Cleats should be either lacrosse, soccer or football. No metal spikes of any kind will be allowed.

Other personal protection should be worn to all practices and games as well. We will not be checking to see if players are wearing their athletic cups, it will be assumed they are wearing them and is highly recommended that they do.

I hope someone finds this useful. Corey

10/28/2008 - First Clinic for the '09 season is history
With our first clinic of the upcoming season down we look forward to another in November. A special thank you to all that attended.

Due to an injured coach the kids that played on the Red Bluff teams first year got to help run the clinic. This may not sound like a big deal, but these kids are between the ages of 10 and 13. They conducted themselves like true mentors, and the clinics success was due to their contributions. As for enrollment, it looks like we will have an extremely successful season ahead of us.

Based on this clinic, our goal to have 3 teams (U13, U15, and Junior Varsity) looks excellent. We did have a few kids interested in a U11 team. If you know any kids interested in playing that are currently between the ages of 7 and 10 please contact us ASAP. Our registration for NCJLAX is due 30 November 2008, and we would be very happy to field a U11 team.

A final Note- we have had several inquiries regarding a girls lacrosse team
